Tenerife enjoys an excellent Motorway system allowing easy access to the north of the Island.

A free bus service runs through the town regularly and stops at many places both in Los Christianos and Playa de Las Americas.

Locally

Golf Del Sur Market

One of the newest markets in Tenerife but becoming quite popular due to it being situated near to the new marina on Friday mornings. A nice variety of stalls are provided which is well worth a visit if you are staying in Golf Del Sur but probably not worth travelling from too far away

San Blas Square

10 minutes walk from the apartment is the commercial centre of San Blas with Restaurants, bars shops and banks. Many of the restaurants have nightly live entertainment.

Atlantis Spa

Perfect for the ladies although many gentlemen can be found relaxing here. A 5 minute walk from the apartment will take you to this spa where you can buy a daily or weekly ticket and enjoy the luxury of being pampered with one of the many treatments available or simply relax by the climate controlled pool.

Los Abrigos

20 minutes walk along the coast will take you to the picturesque fishing village of Los Abrigos which has seven fabulous fish restaurants overlooking the lovely working harbour.

There is a  little market is held in the square in front of the church every Tuesday evening. Though there are not so many stalls to browse through, you might still pick up some interesting sliver jewellery, some casual clothes for your holidays or a gift or two. After the market, you might wander down the sea front at Los Abrigos to enjoy fresh seafood at one of the many little restaurants there. One of the best is Restaurante El Mirador de los Abrigos with stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean.

Playa del Medano

Resort with long stretch of yellow sand, near Reina Sofia airport.  Shallow water and exposed to the wind, so it’s popular for surfing.

Playa de los Christianos

A bustling resort built around an old port and now merging along the coastline with neighbouring Playa de las Americas.  Numerous shops and inexpensive restaurants.  Well maintained stretches of soft, brown sand protected by jetties, near the ferry port of this resort.  Ferry can be taken to the island of Gomera.  Beach equipment for hire.  Water sports.  Safe for children. Only 10 minutes from the apartment - a taxi ride about 11 euros.

Playa de las Americas

Varied beaches with hard sand, grainy and, pebbles and rocks strung along tree lined promenade.  All water-sports equipment for hire. Only 10 minutes from the apartment - a taxi ride about 11 euros.

Aguapark Octopus (San Eugenio, Playa de las Americas)

Water slides, water tunnels, a wave pool and a magical tap in the sky are some of the attractions at the island’s popular water park.

Go-Karting Club Tenerife (Ctra General, Playa De Las Americas)

Low-down fun – quick or slow – for adults and children.

Elsewhere on the Island

Puerto de Santiago

A tasteful little resort with a small bay of black sand.

Los Gigantes

Pleasant yachting marina lined with restaurants, shops and cafes.  Admire the awesome serenity of the impressive cliffs.  A small beach of black sand where pedalos are available for hire.

Masca

A tiny village spread out at the top of a gorge and formerly known as the ‘hidden village’ due to its inaccessibility.  Masca is now on the tourist trail but retains much of its original identity.

Mount Teide

Pronounced to rhyme with ‘lady’.  At 3717m, this is the highest mountain in Spain, with a volcanic crater last active at the end of the 18th century.  During the winter months the peak is often snow-capped, providing an unusual background to the sun baked plains of the south.  It is possible to walk up to the edge of the crater from the terminus of the cable car at 3555m.

Puerto de la Cruz

The most important resort on the north coast of Tenerife.  Founded as a port and flourished through the trade in sugar and wine and in later years, cochineal and bananas.  A thriving but dignified tourist resort.  An attractive development is the Lago de Martianez, a designer lido which makes up for the resort’s lack of a good natural beach.

Santa Cruz

The modern-day capital of Tenerife.  The capital, Santa Cruz, is about 1 hour's drive away where all the major shops are situated. Its main claim to historical fame is as the site of the battle of 1797 in which Horatio Nelson lost his right arm and was forced to retreat.  In addition to its importance as a port, Santa Cruz is also a busy shopping centre.  The centre of the city is dominated by the magnificent square, Plaza de Espana with its monument to the fallen of the Spanish Civil War.

Playa de las Teresitas

Impressive artificial beach of golden sand.  Clam bay protected by stone dyke and palm trees.  Often quiet in the week.

Loro Parque (San Felipe, Punta Brava)

Over 1300 parrots in a beautiful tropical setting with spectacular shows throughout the day.  Trained parrots, dolphins and other animals too.

El Castillo  (Ctra General del Norte, Los Realejos)

A museum and park set in and around a real castle, including a farm, cactus garden and wine tasting.
